Blue Mountains Cage Strategy Guide: Blue Mountains

 

Twilight Gulch

Mountain Level 1

Mountain Level 1

There are 6 Electoon cages on this level. You will need to get the power to run to reach a flying ring and access one of the cages.

Rock Monster
  • Watch out for spikes in the Blue Mountains. Rayman can usually crawl under the low hanging spikes.
  • (1) Jump to the left of the entrance sign at the beginning of the level and fall down close to the edge of the cliff. Crawl right and fight the rock monster. You will find the cage after the monster.
  • (2) Go up on the rocks above the rock monster and you'll find another cage as well.
  • Return to where you entered the level by riding up on the cloud.
  • Before grabbing the first flying ring that you see, continue walking to the right and get the fist for super punching power. This will help you grab the rings and fight the rock monsters.
  • Fighting the first rock monster on the cliff can be tricky. One technique is to grab onto the edge of the cliff and hang down. The rock monster will throw his lava rock, get bored and turn around to walk away. When he does, jump up onto the cliff and start rapidly hitting him.
  • (3) After fighting the first rock monster on the cliff, fall back down to the entrance where a cage has appeared.
  • Use the flying rings to go back to the cliff and fight your way past the two rock monsters. Just past cliff you will see a series of three downward sloping ledges. Ignore the cloud in the crevice before the first ledge for now. Look for some sparkles on the right side of the first downward sloping ledge. Hang off the right side of that ledge, and you will hear the tone indicating that a cage has appeared.
  • (4) Return to the crevice where you saw the cloud and drop down to find the cage.
  • (5)Flying ring Go back up to the first sloping ledge. If you have the running power and the "super golden fist", you can run from the ledge, jump off to the right, coast with your helicopter power, and then punch and grab the flying ring. This ring will allow you to reach a cage not far above it.
  • (6) After the flying ring, between the third ledge and the cliff on the right, look for a crevice with some clouds. Go down and you will see a blue ting hanging above a gulf. (Now the real hard part begins!) Jump at the ting and a cloud will appear to catch you. Ride the cloud to a free life and the last cage. The jump between the two blue spikes is difficult. Try jumping early and using the helicopter power to coast through the spikes.

Mountain Level 2

Mountain Level 2Mr. Stone

There no Electoon cages on this level.

  • In this level Rayman is chased by an angry Mr. Stone. The trails of tings indicate safest path to take.
  • You can jump over or break the large rocks that block your way. Sometimes they have bonus surprises hidden within them.
  • There is a hidden power-up in the crevice that you fall into by following the first trail of tings. At the bottom right side of the crevice, there is a short, narrow passage. Crawl to the right into the passage and a power-up will appear above..
  • Lava RockWhen you find yourself stuck in a narrow cavern with bouncing lava rocks and Mr. Stone walking above, break the lava rocks and move to the right. A cloud will appear above. Wait patiently and Mr. Stone will eventually jump off the ledge. Then go back to the left side of the cavern, climb up and jump on the cloud to escape. Be careful, the spikes below the cloud are fatal!
  • Watch out for the hunter at the end of this level.

The Hard Rocks

Mountain Level 3

There is 1 Electoon cage on this level.

  • At the beginning of this level, if you crawl in the cavern to the left, dodge the rock monster and go up on the clouds, you will be taken to a power-up and brought back to the beginning of the level.
  • Moving, big blue spikeOnce back at the beginning, jump down and to the right into a narrow cavern. Go right for another power-up.
  • Again back at the beginning, ride the cloud to the right, hitting the big blue spike to knock it out of the way.
  • (1) Jump on the cloud that rises and then onto the cloud above the swinging big blue spike. You will hear the tone indicating the appearance of a cage. Get back on the cloud you just left and ride it up. The cage will be on the rock ledge at the top left of the screen.
  • There are two exits to this level. The first one comes after you ride the cloud and avoid a series of blue spikes.BirdBird If instead of leaving by this exit, walk down the hill and to the left, a cloud will appear taking you along a dangerous route to another exit, where you will find an extra life.

Mountain Level 4

There are 2 Electoon cages on this level. There is a magician on this level.

  • Look for an arrow made of tings pointing up.Hat Continue going right, avoiding the floating blue spike. Jump down into the following crevice. When you grab the mini power-up a cloud will appear above the blue spike that you just avoided. Go up on it for a power-up and the magician.
  • In the next cavern you will encounter a series of five moving clouds. While on the fourth cloud, jump to the right side of the cavern and get the tings that are in the small cave. This will trigger the appearance of a cage which you will not be able to reach at this point. Return to the moving clouds and go up.
  • There is a free life high above the five moving clouds on the left.
  • (1) Have your picture taken by the photographer, then drop below the next cloud for the cage.
  • (2 - not circled on map above) After the screen stops moving, you will see a series of four clouds. On the grassy platform after the clouds, hang down on the left side of the platform to get the ting. Clouds will appear leading you to a glove. Jump quickly to get the glove and the cage will appear back on the grassy platform that you just left.
  • HunterWatch out for the hunter which you encounter while the screen is moving. One way to get around him is to jump and grab the edge of the ledge instead of landing on the ground directly in front of him. Once the hunter's bullet passes overhead, jump up on the ground and punch him. You must act quickly to avoid being caught by the edge of the screen.
  • At the end of the level, jump to the right over the exit sign. A cloud appears that will allow you to get a free life. Use your punching fist to get the life. Do not touch the spikes, they are fatal!

There are 3 Electoon cages on this level.

  • The winding caverns in this level can become confusing. Explore all of the cavern openings you see and follow all of the clouds. Remember that there is one Electoon cage before the photographer and two after him.
  • To avoid the lava rocks, simply jump over them.
  • (1) At the entrance, go right, up, and then to the far left. Look carefully and drop down the trail of tings. The cage will appear back at the entrance.

 

  • Look for a bouncy cloud above a moving blue spike. Go up on the cloud and get the ting. A free life will appear to your right. You can not reach it at this point. Continue along the path to the left, then while you are going back to the right, look for a disappearing cloud over a crevice. Drop down into the crevice for some tings and the free life.

  • When you are on the next disappearing cloud, jump high and to the right for another free life. If you encounter the photographer, you missed the free life.
  • After having your picture taken by the photographer, drop down to the right of the big blue swinging spike for a free life.
  • (2) Retrace your steps and continue left past the swinging, big blue spike. Go up. When you are on a small stone platform above the photographer, take a wild, running jump to your right. Follow the path to the right. The second cage is above the clouds near the moving, big blue spike.
  • (3) At the end of the level (on the top right-hand side), fall in a crevice, following the path of tings. You will end up below two rock monsters. Get the power up on the bottom left of the cavern and the cage will appear in another cavern to your left. Go up on the clouds and retrace your steps to reach the last cage.

Mr. Stone's Peaks

Mountain Level 6

There are 2 Electoon cages on this level.

  • The musician will give you a special vial Magic vialthat allows you to fly if you break the rock to free his guitar.
  • There is no real secret to getting through this level other than taking your time flying past the spikes.
  • (1) For the first cage, fly above the musician and get the two tings. The cage will appear below you at the entrance.
  • There is a power-up in the crevice right after the first photographer.Blue spike
  • After the second photographer, there is a free life in a cave below the second group of floating blue spikes.
  • (2) The second cage is near the exit. Fly carefully below the exit sign, and get the tings on the left. The cage will appear on a small ledge to your right.

Mountain Level 7

Helicopter power
  • Rayman keeps his super helicopter power in this level.
  • Cut the frayed section of the cords with your helicopter hair. Only at the frayed spot can you cut the cords and keep the huge slab of stone from forcing you into the water. It's best to try to cut in an up and down motion, cutting as much as possible in one spot.
  • (1) Once you've reached the grass, fly up into the first opening where there is a hidden cage.

There is 1 Electoon cage on this level.

  • On this level Rayman loses the super helicopter power.
  • (1) You will encounter the cage about half way up the first round of rising water. Punch it quickly before the water reaches you.
  • Once you have passed the first round of rising water and reach the plateau, congratulate yourself and get ready for a second round of rising water.
  • After the second round of rising water, the disappearing clouds to the left lead to a power-up. The exit is to the right.

There are 2 Electoon cages on this level. There is a magician on this level.

  • (1) At the entrance, fight your way past the rock monster and go up the hill. While you are on the top slope, turn and run back to your left. Jump and grab the flying ring which is over the rock monster. Go up and get the life. The cage will appear to your right.
  • After a long series of icy hills and Antitoons, jump down the crevice before the grassy platform to find a magician.
  • Drop down the next crevice after the magician for a glove and lots of tings. This also helps you avoid the lava balls.
  • After the photographer, jump down to the left in the second cavern and you'll find a life. If you go past the bouncing lava balls, you missed the life.
  • To get past the bouncing lava balls, try hanging off of the left side of the platform, and using your punching power to hit the lava ball on the next platform. The flying pieces of lava from the broken ball should miss you.
  • (2) Drop down into the crevice after the first big blue moving spike, get the ting, and the cage will appear in the next crevice to the right.

Mountain Level 10

There are no Electoon cages on this level.

  • This level gives you a chance to fight Mr. Stone one-on-one. In order to hurt him, you must jump up and punch the head of the silly looking totem pole in the middle of the screen.
  • The only way you can reach this high is by jumping on top of one of the rocks that Mr. Stone throws at you. Jump up and knock the rock out of Mr. Stone's hands. Each time you hit the totem pole, run to the opposite side of the screen, avoid the obstacles he launches at you, and await the next stone.
  • Be careful though, because some of the more rapidly thrown stones cannot be used. You have to duck under them.
  • Eventually clouds will appear which you can jump on as well.

There are no Electoon cages on this level.

  • Betillia the Fairy will give you the power to run.

Going back after you receive the power to run

You can now go back to get some of the cages that you couldn't reach the first time through the level.

  • You can now use the running power to jump up and reach the icy ledge for the last cage in Music Level 7.
  • In Music Level 12, two more cages become accessible.
  • The running power will help you reach the flying ring in Mountain Level 1, which leads to the fourth cage on the level.
